Imphal, December 24 2009:
With the help of 22 Assam Rifles, personnel of Narcotics Control Bureau seized 1450 kgs of contraband Ganja estimated to be worth Rs 50.75 lakhs in International market from Tadubi.
The seizure took place on December 16 at around 11.55 pm.
According to a delayed official report, the compressed and neatly packed ganja was seized from a mini truck bearing registration number NL-01A/3614 which was found stationed at a spot called Lai Lambi Haijinpham in Tadubi along National Highway 39. The driver of the mini truck identified as Buni Victor (33) s/o Maikho of Liyai Khullen has been remanded to judicial custody custody after being produced in the court.

In his statement, Buni maintained that was forced to carry the contraband Ganja by 4 to 5 unknown persons.
The Ganja was being taken to Dimapur when the seizure took place, the source informed, adding that efforts are being made to dispose off the seized Ganja with the approval of the court concerned.
