JN Hospital would be transferred to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and once transferred the whole establishment of JN Hospital would be renamed as JNIMS Hospital.
A Cabinet meeting held this afternoon took a decision towards this end.
A senior Minister in the SPF Government said that the Government has received a report of the core committee constituted to work out merger of JN Hospital with JNIMS.
The report was deliberated in today's Cabinet meeting.
Even as transfer of JN Hospital to JNIMS was approved by the Cabinet, it instructed the core committee to work out more details regarding seniority list and recruitment of teaching staff--whether teaching staff should be appointed only from JN Hospital or whether doctors working in district hospitals should be given similar advantage etc.
The JNIMS is awaiting the green signal from the Medical Council of India.
In addition to 6200 VDF, for which recruitment process is underway, the Cabinet meeting agreed on recruitment of another 1500 VDF personnel.
300 each of the additional 1500 VDF personnel would be deployed in Imphal West and Imphal East districts, 500 in Thoubal, 300 in Bishnupur and 100 in Chandel district.
The Cabinet also gave its approval for appointment of 12 SIs and seven ASIs of the Mahila battalion for which recruitment process is under progress.
Besides ex-gratia amount of Rs five lakhs to the next of kin of Lambu AS Ringphami of Mailiyangjang village under Phungyar police station who was killed by some UG cadres, the Cabinet meeting agreed on providing a job to a member of the late man.
AS Ringphami was abducted by some UG cadres on November 28 before he was found dead on December 19 .
The Cabinet meeting also consented to acquiring land facing Khuman Lampak including buildings at a cost of Rs 60 lakhs for construction of night shelter home for women under Labour Department.
It agreed on regularising eight post in Commerce and Industries Department.
The Cabinet meeting further approved extending line of promotion of the six posts of Supervisors in Adult Education Department to the rank of Project Officer.
It also gave consent to appointment of body-builder Kh Pradipkumar as physical instructor in YAS.
