With the dry season going on making power supply in Tamenglong district more irregular, people of district have been facing acute shortage of water for the last couple of weeks.
Most of the streams and ponds have been dried up.
Acute water problem is seen here at the district HQs for last couple of days.
People have to go far off places and rush themselves just to get pails of water.
While some few house hold manage to buy from their own pocket from private as PHED had stop supply water for few couple of days.
When this correspondent tried to inquired about the water and PHED, it is learnt that the officials were not at the station for couple of days.
However, this correspondent is able to meet the water reservoirs' chowkidar who said that water did not come from the source (in take place).
It is the duty of the linemen, he added.
As the season entered into dried season the water will scarce till the monsoon season and the water at the source also dried up.
But of power supply is available the department could have pump up the water from the pool, he said.
He also revealed that many individuals have been stole water from pipeline starting from the intake place upto the water reservoirs.
Some defaulters were allowed by the PHED department the source said.
Water scarcity is not only seen at the district HQs but also found even in the villages.
At villages level the sources is available in plenty but the poor villages have not capable to tap the water and bring it to the villages.
Many poor villagers have to go down the stream far away from their home to get water.
In the meantime, Sumant Singh, IAS Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong to the query of this correspondent said that the district administration is waiting for MSDP fund.
When this fund comes the district administration is going to do something to improve the water problem he said.
