Imphal, December 24 2009:
Joint Secretary of Manipur Assembly Secretariat, Akoijam Tiken who had been in the captivity of kidnappers since December 12 last was released yesterday evening at a place in Imphal east by his abductors.
Tiken was abducted by some armed persons from his house located at Mantripukhri December 12 last on the alleged demand of Rs 1 crore.
Demanding unconditional safe release of the officer, employees of the Assembly secretariat were on sit-in protest from the next day of his abduction.
The protest had been concluded today with the release of the officer.
However, on what condition he was freed by the abductor could not be ascertained as family as well officials of the secretariat refused to say out.
Speaker of the Assembly, Sapam Budhichandra paid a visit to the residence of the officer to inquire about his health condition after he was released safe and sound.
