Imphal, September 28: Kakai Memorial (Motbung) subdued Lungphow Youth Club 3-2 to seal semi final berth of the 1st Lhaineivah Lenthang Memorial trophy football tournament being played at leimakhong.

In the last quarter final match today, the Motbung side surged ahead on Paominthang Kipgen's fifth minute goal. LYC, who were already assured of a place in the last four stage based on strength of their earlier performances in the quarter final league round, restored parity through Paokinlun Guite (10th).The keenly contested game saw gogou retaining the Kakai lead in the 17th minute which remained unchanged till the breather. With the match 15 minute into the second session, Paominlien Guite tied the score for LYC before Thangneo produced Kakai's match-winner in the 65th minute.

The other teams to advance to the semi final stage are Lalkai Memorial Team and Concord Football Team.

Meanwhile, in ladies' volleyball competition for the same trophy which started today, USD, Motbung spikers thrashed Twisomjang Youth Club eves 25-18, 25-21, 25-20, Lalkai Memorial Team overcame CH.
