Movement for Tribal Peoples Rights Manipur (MTPRM) today questioned how it was possible for the construction works to be completed within seven days time regarding the improvement works of Tamenglong Mini Secretariat and the SDO and SDC office cum quarters of the district subdivisions.
In a statement issued to Newmai News Network today the tribal rights body said that the work orders for the improvements of the SDO, SDC office cum quarters in the Tamenglong subdivisional headquarters and the Mini secretariat at Tamenglong HQ were issued on March-24, 2005 but the bill payments were made on March 31, 2005 � a gap of seven days only.
The MTPRM while detailing its accusation said that how it was possible that within seven days time the works were completed.
It further stated that in the cement/plastering related works, several days are needed for drying the plastering which is also called curing time and then only the further work could be proceeded.
The rights body stated that Rs 8,67,449 bill payment was made for the work order number of CT/7/TML/ACA/2004-05/02 while Rs 15,51,766 amount was made for the work order number of CT/7/TML/ACA/2004-05/03.The tribal rights body said that the bill payments for both the cases were done on the same day, ie March 31 this year.
It demanded the booking of the engineers involved in the matter at the earliest.
The MTPRM further demanded that the engineers involved in the withdrawing of money without doing any work should be punished without fail or else it would initiate strong agitation against the State Government.
The rights body also accused the State Government of its inaction on the matter questioning the failure of the Government agencies in arresting and booking the engineers who are corrupted.
