Mangaibou granted anticipatory bail

Imphal, December 28: The Sessions Judge, Manipur East today granted anticipatory bail to MLA Z Mangaibou against whom an FIR has been lodged for allegedly threatening senior engineers of the PWD with his licensed gun on December 23.In the event of arrest pending the disposal of the petition, the MLA is to be released on bail on furnishing a bond of Rs 30,00 with one surety of the same amount, the Court headed by Ng Max Phazang said, after perusing the bail application filed by the Congress MLA from Tamei AC.

The interim bail was granted on the condition that the MLA would be available for interrogation by the Investigating Officer as and when required and that he shall not commit any prejudicial act prior to the investigation, the Court maintained.

Issuing notices to the Public Prosecutor (District) and SP of Imphal West, for submission of their reports, the Court fixed January 5 next for the reports and hearing.

The Court however handed the case over to the Additional Sessions Judge, Manipur East for disposal and ruled that on the said day the parties should appear before the Court.
