Imphal, December 28:
Making his first public comment on the stand off between PWD engineers and MLA Z Mangaibou over the gun brandishing incident, Chief Minister O Ibobi today said that efforts are on to work out a compromise between the MLA and the engineers.
Speaking to newsmen, the Chief Minister said that Mangaibou may have had reasons to feel anxious as development works still had to be implemented at his Constituency at Tamei.
On top of this with election round the corner, the MLA must have felt concerned about the fate of his constituency, reasoned the Chief Minister.
Obviously coming to the defence of the MLA, the Chief Minister took pains to explain that there was a communication gap between the engineers and the MLA adding that representatives sent by Mangaibou to meet the engineers were not able to do meet the officers concerned.
This may have prompted the MLA to think that he has been slighted by the PWD officers, he explained.
