As per the December 19, 2005 decision of the executive committee, the list of the electoral college of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has been announced.
The list consisting of six categories based on population (Census 2001) and some other distinct grounds include all erstwhile Kuki tribes who once were part of Kuki, though some have disowned or disclaimed it on some reasons or the other, according to a notification issued by KIM president P Gangte.
The notification further entreated all concerned to take part in the exercise, even as observers, for the sake of cultural, historical ethnological and physical affinities.
The name of the tribes and number of votes as enumerated in the category 'A' -24 -with a population of upto 50,000 are Aimol (5), Anal (5), Chiru (5), Chongthu/Shongthu (5), Chothe (5), Gangte (5), Hangmi (5), Hmar (5), Khongsai (5), Keirao (5), Koireng (5), Kom (5), Lamkang (5), Maring (5), Any Mizo (5), Mayon (5), Monsang (5), Paite (5), Purum (5), Ralte (5), Simte (5), Sukte (5), Vaiphei (5) and Zou (5).In category 'B'-1- with a population of upto 50,001 to 1,00,000, the total number of votes for Any Kuki tribe is 10.Thadou tribe which comes under category 'C'-1 with a population of upto 1,00,001 and above has 15 votes in the electoral college.
Category 'D'-27- comprises of KIM and its branches/blocks, etc.
Under this category, KIM (general HQ) would have total number of 10 votes and KIM blocks would have 130 votes.
The details of the blocks which are entitled to 5 votes each are Imphal Kuki Veng under IKVK; Toibuong Lhang, Tuila, Thanlon, Leimata, Gun-Tuining, Singnat, Thangching, Saiton Dampi, Henglep and Songsang under Churachandpur; Bungpui Lhang, Moreh, Lonpi, Tengnoupal and Dingpi-Gunpi under Chandel; Chassad and Jalenbung under Ukhrul; Thoubal Lhang under Thoubal; Sadar Lhang, Gunhawm, Tuibul, Moultam and Tuilanghawm under Sadar Hills; Jiribam Lhang under Jiribam and Uikon Lhang under Tamenglong.
In category 'E'-7, the names of the social organisations which are entitled to 5 votes each are Kuki People's Movement for Human Rights, All India Kuki Women Forum for HR, Kuki Women Union, Kuki Mothers' Association, Kuki Govt Employees' Association, Indian National Army (Pensioners) and Kuki Students' Organisation.
The number of votes and other electorates which comes under Category 'F'-9- are sitting MP and MLAs (9), Journalists (10), for tribe organisations, besides the three chief functionaries namely, president, general secretary and treasurer, the eldest clan of the tribe may be included, etc.
