As follow up action of yesterday's gun-battle between the Assam Rifles and UNLF at Ningthoukhong Kha-Paton under Bishnupur police station, security forces launched a massive search operation in and around the area today.
According to source, the search operation was launched by a combined force of 7 Assam Rifles, 5/8 GR and 11 Garhwal Rifles.
No State security personnel were included in the team.
The source said out of the four underground activists claimed to have been killed by 7 Assam Rifles during the yesterday's operation at Loktak Lake, one of them was an innocent fisherman.
The victim has been identified as Heisnam Binodkumar (26) s/o Birmani of Thanga Heisnam Leikai.
The identities of the three slain UNLF activities have also been established as Arunkumar alias Korou (30) s/o Bira of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, Meikam Tete alias Budha (23) s/o Shanta of Moirang Patlou and Yumnam Premjit alias Nanao (24) s/o late Mohindro of Wabagai Leirak Achouba.
Korou is said to be a sergeant and he joined UNLF some 10 years back.
He had also been arrested by commandos and AR and jailed twice earlier.
M Tete left home to join the outfit some seven years back and Y Premjit joined the outfit in 2001.The post-mortem of all the four bodies were conducted at RIMS today and later handed them over to their respective family members.
