Slain AR man accorded full honour

Imphal, December 28: The mortal remian of Rifleman H Bijendra Singh of 7 Assam Rifles who was killed in a shoot out with militants at Loktak was laid to rest with full military honour at his native Wabagai village today.

In a statement, the PRO of IGAR (South), said that though grievously wounded, he continued moving the boat towards the hideout of the militants and shot dead two UNLF cadres.

He breathed his last while he was being evacuated, added the statement.

Floral tributes were paid to the late soldier wrapped in tri-colour and led by his father, H Bihari Singh, said the statement and added that Commander of 9 Sector AR, Brig K Pillai, senior AR officers, troops, DC of Thoubal, SP of Thoubal and local MLA attended the cremation of the late soldier.
