The Shumang Leela, Tabunungi Thambal of Sagolband Moirang Leirak Meitei Leima Jatra cum Drama Association swept away five coveted award including the best production, best direction and best actor in the 34th All Manipur Shumang Leela Festival, 2006 (Female Group), the result of which was declared on February 9.Tabunungi Thambal clinched the best production award leaving Sanagi Keirak of Nongpok Ningthou Drama cum Dance Association to be contented with the 2nd best production title.
Ak Bengol who directed the Tabunungi Thambal also won the best direction award again beating the director of Sanagi Keirak Khuraijam Chaibi who was given the 2nd best production award.
Lamabam Premila Devi who played the role of Garibniwaz in Tabunungi Thambal was declared the best actor, Salam Nandira Devi and Naorem Sobita Devi who played the role of Thambal and Maharani Lanthabi in the same play won the 2nd best actress and 2nd best supporting actress award respectively.
Besides the 2nd best production award, Sanagi Keirak also went home with the prizes of best script for Loitongbam Dorendro and best child actor award for Baby Athokpam Surjita who played the part of young Khoriphaba with the talent of an accomplished artiste.
The jury or the judges special mention title goes to Upai Amatang of Kangjabi Meitei Chanu Artist cum Drama Association for developing social play in the women category.
Th Lata Devi who played the role of Ruhini in Upai Amatang also won the best supporting actress award.
Other award winners are Kangujam Sangeeta Devi who played the role of Gulamjat in Thangpham Ama (2nd best actor), Thounaojam Lata Devi (best actress) for her role as Palliba in Charairongbagi Mamomloi, Thingbaijam Ahanbi Devi (best comedian) for her role as Soura in Loi Okpa, Sagolsem Bimola Devi (best supporting actor) for her role as Khullakpa in Sathouba, Baby S Roshini Devi (best child actress) for her role as Khamnu in Puremba Loipot Thouba and Niladhwaja Khuman (2nd best script) for Tangoi.
