Imphal, February 12:
Power Minister, Gaikhangam has appealed to the people of the State to clear overdue electricity bills and help the State Government, informed a DIPR press release.
Speaking as the chief guest in the 39th annual general body meeting of the Manipur Electricity Employees Union (MEEU) at MDU hall yesterday, Gaikhangam noted that we must understand the power crisis currently faced by the State.
There is a common notion that electricity is provided free of cost by the State and there is no need to pay bills, observed the Power minister.
He also maintained that the State could not progress and make any way until and unless people give up the habit of demanding only their rights without giving a thought to their duties.
The meeting was presided by the president of MEEU, Elangbam Dolendro as MLA, Z Mangaibou and Chief Engineer (Power) H Bihari attended as guests of honours, mentioned the release.
