Village chief reacts to �wrong� report

Imphal, February 25: Reacting to a news report, Chief of Gobok Village, Chakpikarong sub-division has asserted that the officials of ECI did come arrive at 41/37 Gobok Polling Station when they came for a surprise visit to Chakpikarong.

The inspection team led by one SDO only met two persons, one from Khubung Khunow and other from Thurcham village on the said day who conspired with the team leader in giving wrong report to the Chief Election Officer so that the polling station could be transferred to the neighbouring village, the village chief L Khaithong Khongsai said in a statement.

He informed that on that day, he along with the villagers were waiting to meet the inspection team, but they returned from Khubung Khunow village.

Highlighting these facts in a memorandum, the village chief also appealed to the Chief Election Officer, Manipur not to transfer the polling station and retain it at its usual place.
