Team of HQs IGAR (South) has emerged as the overall champion of the two day Governor's Golf Cup 2010 which concluded at Mantripukhri Green today.
golfers of HQs 57 Mountain Division and Manipur Golf Association (MGA) respectively secured the runners-up and third place positions.
The tournament participated by 55 male golfers and 13 females was co-hosted by MGA and Mantripukhri Ecological Park and Training Area.
In the handicapped 19-28 competition, Maj V Gurung claimed the top honour with the second position going to Satyabrata as Indrajit singh won the handicapped 18-below maximum par and Lt Col S Choudhury the maximum round title.
In straight drive competition the winner was Col (Retd) RK Jatrasana while Lt col P Tiwari swung the club to pocket the longest drive honour.
Assistant Commandant Manvir Singh won the nearest-to-pin event crown with Lt col Asim Gupta pocketing the best net title followed by Col Ravroop in the second position.
Brig Harish Thukral emerged as the individual winner with Col George Jacob occupying the second spot.
Among female competitors, Mrs Akshma Sharma bagged the ladies putting crown with Capt deepa Yadav settling for the second position.
Gracing the closing function as the chief guest, Governor Gurbachan Jagat distributed prizes to position winners in different categories.
state Planning Board Chairman Bijoy Koijam was the guest of honour.
