The 31st Dimki session (union assembly/parliament) of All Zeliangrong Students' Union (AZSU) has resolved to extend full support and co-operation to the ongoing peace talks between NSCN (I-M) and Government of India and called upon the Centre and the collective leadership of GPRN/NSCN to bring about a logical conclusion to the long standing Indo-Naga political issue.
The 31st Dimki session which was held on March 5 as a part of the diamond jubilee celebration cum 20th general conference of AZSU from March 3 to 6 at Maha Kabui-Namching village in Senapati further resolved to collaborate with the Zeliangrong Recognition Steering Committee in pursuing the demand for re-cognition of 'Any Zeliangrong tribes including Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei as scheduled tribes of the country.
The session chaired by AZSU president T Mirhu furthermore affirmed to defend the ancestral land of the Zeliangrong people and resolved that only AZSU shall be entitled to represent in the NSF, Tenymia SU, Dimapur Naga Students' Union or any other student bodies and even in the Governmental agencies.
Among other resolutions, the session also approved the resolution passed in the ZSUM Dimki session at Makhan village on October 3, to finalise the proposal for opening ZSU Jiri area in the 32nd Dimki session, dissociation of Puimai Students from AZSU, holding of the next general conference of AZSU in Nagaland in 2012. The session has also elected John Tingenglung Pamei as the new president, Nchaheing Kapeing as the new general secretary, Disuang Stephen as the assistant general secretary, Ilungbam Rangkau as the new finance secretary and Jacob Panmei as the new information and publicity secretary of the Union for the next tenure of 2010-2012.The post for vice president, however, has been reserved for candidate from Assam.
