The All Zeliangrong Students' Union has resolved to urge the government of India and the 'collective leadership' of the NSCN-IM or NSCN/GPRN to bring about a "logical conclusion of the long standing Indo-Naga political issue with strong political wall".
The Zeliangrong students' body resolution was taken during the "31st assembly session" of the students' body held on March 5 last which coincided with the celebration of the diamond jubilee-cum-20th general conference of AZSU from March 3 to 6 at Maha Kabui-Namching village, Senapati district, according to the AZSU press communique signed by its president T Mihru dispatched on Sunday said.
Nine resolutions were passed in the 'assembly session' which was held under the chairmanship of the president of AZSU after a series of deliberations discussion and debates on various matters concerning the "national", the students and the youths' interest.
The session resolved to extend the "fullest support and cooperation" to the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talk and the peace process, which the AZSU terms it as the oldest political issue in Asia next to Tibet and to urge the Government of India and the collective leadership of NSCN/GPRN (NSCN-IM) to bring about a logical conclusion of the long standing Indo-Naga Political issue with strong "political wall", the statement said.
Meanwhile, in order to pursue the demand for recognition of "any Zeliangrong tribes including Zeme, Liangmei, Rongmei as scheduled tribes of the country in collaboration with the 'Zeliangrong Steering Committee' was also resolved by the session apart from reaffirming to defend the ancestral lands of the Zeliangrong people wherever the Zeliangrong people confine and their lands if found trespassed upon by "alien forces".
To go ahead diplomatic ties with Naga Students Federation (NSF), Tenymia Students Union, Dimapur Naga Students' Union or sub-tribal bodies like Rongmei Students Union, Zeme Students Union, Liangmei Students Union etc., approval of dissociation with ANSAM, opening of AZSU of Jiri Area were among other resolutions drafted in the "assembly session", the statement added.
