Imphal, March 07, 2010:
Kapaam Village Authority urged upon the State Government to set up a PHC at Komlathabi (Kapaam) village of Chandel district.
Justifying its plea, a press release issued by village chief/chairman Ng Komon said that there is not a single PHC in Chandel block despite having eight PHSCs and Komlathabi (Kapaam) village is the ideal location for setting up the said PHC.
Maintaining that due to location significance, doctors were posted in Komlathabi PHSC since past 35 years, the village chairman said that doctors have been recently pulled out from the PHSC after MGEL has been put into force.
Stressing on the need of a PHC in the block, the chairman said that a PHC not only supervises PHSCs but also has field workers who are active in various Government schemes.
Saying that a district hospital is just a referral and static health facility, Ng Komon said that Chandel Block therefore needs its own PHC even though it has a district hospital.
