Swift and timely action by soldiers of 42 Assam Rifles averted possible loss from a a wild fire at Kurkam village of Chandel district today, said an AR release.
According to the release, the fire seemingly flared from burning activities for jhum cultivation.
The inferno raged fast due to dry weather and high wind velocity that it even threatened headquarters of 42 Assam Rifles.
Assam Rifles troops with the help of local civil administration swung into action and controlled the fire in time.
The inferno however gutted a house, said the release and added that a few civilians also suffered mild burn injuries.
It further said that 350 AR men were pressed into action to control the fire which lasted for 5 hours and 30 minutes.
