With the option of absorption into Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) opened to JN Hospital staff, paramedic staff of the hospital have withdrawn from the ongoing cease work strike of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO.
Subsequent upon the withdrawal, the 12 JN Hospital staff arrested by police for joining the strike have been released.
The JN Hospital staff withdrew from the cease work strike after JNIMS Director Dr AD Singh and Medical Superintendent Dr Ibomcha gave the arrested staff option for absorption into JNIMS.
Meanwhile, invoking Section 3 (1) of the Manipur Essential Services Maintenance Act 1984, the State Government has prohibited cease work strike launched by employees of PHED and Power/Electricity Department with immediate effect.
An order issued by the Deputy Secretary (Home) further notified that no person employed in any essential service shall go or remain on strike.
Any strike declared or commenced, whether before or after the issue of this order, by persons employed in essential services would be taken as illegal, it said while adding that the same order shall remain in force for a period of six months.
