One sympathizer of People�s Liberation Army (PLA) has been apprehended by Thoubal police commandos Friday morning and huge cache of arms and ammunitions has been seized.
The apprehended person has been identified as Thokchom Biren (43), son of (L) Th Amucha of Ukhongsang, Thoubal district.
Thoubal district SSP, Clay Khongsai today told media-persons at his office that the district police received a reliable information that some underground cadres were moving around at Ukhongshang and surrounding areas.
The police conducted search operation in the areas at 6.30 am under his supervision.
The police raided the residence of Biren and recovered the arms and ammunitions, said the SSP.
The recovered arms and ammunitions included one AK rifle with 311 live rounds, four 9mm pistols, 20 hand grenades, 271 live rounds of M-16 ammunitions and 100 live rounds of 7.62 SLR ammunitions, the SSP said.
On interrogation, Biren revealed that some arms and ammunitions were being hidden in the fields of Ukhongshang.
At about 10 am, the police personnel conducted the search and found the huge cache of arms and ammunitions.
SSP, Clay Khongsai further said that Biren has been regularly helping the PLA in hiding the arms and ammunitions.
One of his sons identified as Kiran war earlier an active member of PLA.
He was arrested two times by security force, since then he has been staying home after retiring from the party, Biren reportedly told the police.
Meanwhile, decrying the act of hurling a bomb at the residence of one pradhan, protest demonstration was staged Friday at Sagolband, Imphal by the women folk of the locality.
They also demanded the identification of the organization responsible for the act.
A hand grenade was hurled Thursday at 9:30 pm at the residence of Th.Sumanta (pradhan) at Sagolband, Imphal.
However, the bomb did not explode.
According to family sources, two miscreants came in a scooter and hurled the bomb.
They also revealed that Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP-MC) had served monetary demand over the phone one month back.
No recent monetary demands were reportedly served.
