Imphal, September 24: Former Union Defence Minister and president of Janata Dal (U) George Fernan-des arrived at Imphal on a two-day visit today.

Acco-mpanied by party's gene-ral secy and spokesman Shiv Kumar, Fernandes arrived at Tulihal Airport at around 1.45 pm.

Many leaders and workers of the State unit JD (U) received the visiting dignitaries at the airport.

Talking to me-dia-persons at the airport, Fernandes, who is also a LS MP, said that he has come to meet party wor-kers and other acquain-tances.

Later in the after-noon, Fernandes met the functionaries of the State JD (U) Unit and workers at Hotel Imphal.
