Imphal, September 24:
Questioning intention of the State government in opposing the ceasefire between the Central Government and Kuki national Front, the outfit said such attitude of the State authorities would only give impetus to assert basic rights of the Kuki community with renewed vigour.
A statement issued by KNF's information and publicity secretary LH Stephen taking serious note of the Chief Minister O Ibobi's alleged double standard policy said the Kukis cannot be denied their right for formation of a separate entity within the Republic of India as guaranteed by the Constitution.
Recalling Ibobi's invitation for peaceful negotiation in solving insurgency problem, KNF questioned whether the CM's peace agenda covers underground groups of a particular community.
Observing that opposing Central Govt's gesture for truce with KNF in no way reflect State Govt's desire for restoring tranquillity in the hills, Stephen further demanded clarification from the CM on how would Centre- KNF ceasefire create communal disharmony and dis-trust.
Rather that attempt to foil peaceful ventures and rely on misinformation campaign it will be in the right earnest if the State Government pursue egalitarian polity, abandon double standard policy and actively support endeavours of any group in mitigating problems of minority communities settled in the State, emphasised the KNF secretary.
