Ukhrul, September 24: Manipuri womenfolk have geared up to launch a series of intense agitation if PREPAK fails to produce the killers of Salam Punam of Nongmaikhong Makha Leikai within September 26.A decision to this effect was arrived at during a joint meeting held at the office of Women's Association for Civic Action, Kangleipak (WACAK) this afternoon. Apart from the representatives of WACAK, All Manipur Women Social Reformation and Development Samaj, Poirei Leimarol Apunba Meira Paibis Lup, All Manipur Muslim Women's Development Organisation and the JAC Against the Killing of Salam Punam, the family members of the victim were also present during the joint meeting. After a serious deliberation on the issue, the meeting resolved to take recourse to various forms of protest agitation like rally, hunger strike, sit-in-protest, etc with effect from September 27 if the killers were not produced within September 26.The joint meeting also took four other resolutions.

These include appealing to all the underground outfits in Manipur to contribute their mite in arresting the killers of Punam, to fight against atrocities on women jointly and to ensure that cases like that of Punam do not recur in Manipuri society by all the people and civil organisations.

The meeting also decried the failure in producing the killers and dubbed it as the weakness of all the underground organisations.
