The freshers' meet of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Lamphelpat was held today at the Jubilee hall of the Institute.
Director of RIMS Prof L Fimate was the chief guest, Medical Superientendent S Arucnchandra was the guest of honour and Deam Prof Th Biren was the president of the function.
Besides introducing themselves, all the 100 MBBS students from seven States of the North East region were made to sing, or dance or crack jokes, etc.
Speaking at the occasion Prof Arunchandra said that he has an urge to go back to his own department on seeing those freshers.
Prof Fimate reminded the freshers that RIMS is one of the best medical colleges in the country.
He exhorted the students to work hard so that they shine in their life.
He said that with today'sfunction ragging of the freshers is over.
Though it is an old tradition, a change should be made, he added.
He said that people of South East Asian countries work hard and they are very sincere.
This explains why their countries are develop-ing at such a pace.
Prof Biren said that he was on the verge of retirement.
But he advised the freshers to work hard without which they connot excel in this profession.
