Frequent stealing of telephone cable wires has plagued telecom services in Ukhrul, informed SDO (T) Ukhrul Telecom station to media persons here today.
The SDO said that with the stealing of telephone wires, the miscreants have brought immense inconvenience not only to the telecom office but also to the general public, and the subscribers are relaying all their woes to the office.
According to the officer, 40 meters of telephone wire had been stolen recently making over 200 lines a virtual dead at TNL ground, Wino bazaar area.
However, the subscribers are complaining all their woes to the telephone station of dereliction of duty, he added.
After the incident of August, it was the second time that cables had been stolen in the area.
When queried if the office ever had made a formal complaint to the concerned authority in this regard, the SDO said that he had already appraised the matter to the Deputy Commissioner and SP of Ukhrul.
The SDO also appealed the general public to help in safeguarding public properties.
Gandhi Jayanti observed: Ukhrul District Mahela Congress Committee (UDMCC) observed the 140th birth day of the father of the Nation Mohondas Kahamchand Gandhi today at Gandhi Avenue, Phungreitang here today.
The function was participated by formal MLA of Chingai Assembly Constituency, A Aza, president of the district congress committee, Ngalengai and president UDMCC president Achui Shimrah.
The programme was attended by around 400 people including president NSUI Manipur and executive members, president district Congress committee, Ukhrul and executive members.
The observation was also marked with presenting gifts to 200 ladies under the sponsorship of Deputy Commissioner and SDO Ukhrul.
