Country's Panchayati Raj completed 50 year today.
To mark the occasion, a meeting of the Khurai Gram Panchayat held today at Ema Chingjoibi Community Hall.
The meeting was held under the chair of the pradhan of the Khurai Gram Panchayat Kh Ranbir.
The meeting mainly discussed on the development of area covered by the panchayat and also for progressive working of NREGS works for the 2009-10 .
The meeting was attended by the members of the panchayat and NREGS job card holders.
Panchayati Raj in India is completed 50 years today.
To commemorate completion of the 50 year of Panchayati Raj, a National Convention of Panchayati Raj Ministers, Zila Parishad Presidents and elected representatives who have served more than 25 years from all the States/UTs has been organized by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj at Vigyan Bhawan today.
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi addressed the convention along with the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Minister Dr CP Joshi.
Elected Representatives for the Panchayats who have served more than 25 years from all the States/UTs honoured at the convention.
Presentations on activating Gram Sabhas, Gram Panchayat and Participatory Planning and, Panchayats and NREGA,NRHM, SSA and TSC were made by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Ministry Of Rural Development, Ministry Of Health & Family Welfare and Ministry Of Human Resource Development during the day long meeting.
A film on Hiware Bazaar, a model Panchayat in Maharashtra also screened on this occasion.
Deliberations and interventions from elected representatives of States regarding their plans for strengthening Panchayati Raj and observing 2009-10 as the 'Year of Gram Sabha, featured the proceedings.
It may be recalled that Late Jawahar Lal Nehru, the 1st Prime Minister of India had inaugurated Panchayati Raj in India at Naguar in Rajasthan on October 2 in 1959 .
