Imphal, October 02 2009:
A total of 386 cadres of the DHD (J), who had earlier come over-ground before the expiry of the Centre's deadline of September 15, formally surrendered before the Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi today, during a solemn function at District Sports Ground, Haflong in North Cachar Hill District.
The cadres were led by the Commander in Chief of the outfit, Niranjay Hojai, said PIB (Defence Wing) in a statement issued to the press today.

Troops of Red Shield Division had also earlier picked up 29 cadres of the James faction in March this year, which had broken away from the Black Widow group (DHD J), to withdraw from the surrender.
Asserting that the latest surrender is a culmination of the efforts taken up by the 57 Mountain Division to bring peace to the North East region of the country, PIB said that this has come about after successfully bringing the SPLA to the mainstream in Mizoram earlier this year.
The surrender of the Black Widow cadres was co-ordinated by the various security agencies in the district working under the aegis of the Joint Control Headquarters set up under 57 Mountain Division.
