Atleast 36 vehicles were stranded at Khuzama in Nagaland following the ongoing blockade imposed by All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (ANSAM) along the National Highway (NH)-39 on Thursday.
The 36 stranded vehicles included 22 loaded trucks, one LPG bullet proof tanker, three-407 trucks, four inter-state passenger buses and six lorry trucks.
Meanwhile, normal activities are affected in the business of the surface transport travel agencies in the valley areas of the state following the total blockade imposed by the ANSAM.
According to a source from Manipur State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), the passengers have been canceling their train tickets since the imposition of total blockade by the ANSAM.
The source further revealed that there is a financial loss of approximately Rs.70,000 following the refund of the train tickets.
Talking to NNN, L.Inaocha lamented that if the blockade continues for another week then he and his family would starve.
Inaocha earns his livelihood by selling bus tickets of pasenger buses.
He also appealed to the government and the Naga students' organization to sort out the problem at the earliest.
It is worth mentioning that the All Naga Students' Association of Manipur (ANSAM) has called economic blockade along the two national highways leading to Manipur and in all the state highways from the midnight of April 11 in protest against the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Councils (3rd Amendment) Act, 2008 .
The blockade was further intensified by the students' body from the midnight of April 17 and extended for a week.
