The Manipur State Commission for Women today organised a one-day rural awareness programme at Singhat Community hall in Churachandpur district.
Personnel of secretary of MLA Singhat, Liansuamkap and chairperson of the commission, Dr L Ibetombi graced chief guest and president respectively.
Commissioner (Social Welfare Department) Letkhogin Haokip and village chief of the Singhat Haukholian Munluo attended as guests of honour.
In her address as president of the function Dr L Ibetombi observed that in the early time, women remained silent without protesting against violence meted out against them.
But many measures have been taken up for protection of the women from all forms of violence like domestic violence and others.
State women commission is going hand in hand with local clubs, lawyers and social workers to deal effectively with any kinds of violence against women with the determination of addressing difficulties facing by the women group in the society.
She also explored the need of women commission go hand in hand with civil and social organisation to aware the male section of the society as only awareness to women could not solve violence against women.
Senior extension officer of social welfare department, Arambam Kameshwor talked on the schemes for the welfare of women and children implementing in the state, advocate B Supriya on women and law, second OC of Singhat police station on the crimes against women and medical officer Dr Khenzamung on Women and health in the afternoon session of the programme.
