Imphal, April 22 2010:
Troops of 8 Assam Rifles repaired a suspension bridge on the Manipur River connecting Chakpikhullen and Singheu in Chandel district.
The bridge was damaged owing to the continuous of heavy rainfall in the Sajik Valley.
This hampered the daily routine works of transportation, both man and material, of the local inhabitants of Valley.
AR efforted to restore the connectivity under the Military Civic Action programme of 8 Assam Rifles 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(South).
The local populace of Singheu and Chakpikhullen actively participated alongwith the troops of 8 Assam Rifles for repair works on 19 Apr 2010 .
They offered their full cooperation towards the selfless service being undertaken by 8 Assam Rifles and worked 'hand-in-hand' with the troops.
After the completion of the repair work, a short tea party was orgainsed where the villagers including the chiefs of both villages also attended the tea.
This act was explicitly appreciated by the villagers and unit lived upto the motto of a 'Friends of the Hill Peple'.
