A suspension bridge at Sajik Tampak (valley) area, which was damaged due to heavy rainfall, has been reportedly repaired by troops of 8 Assam Rifles along with the locals on April 19 .
A PRO IGAR (S) release said the suspension bridge built over Manipur River serves as the vital link between Chakpikhullen and Singheu villages but its damage owing to continuous rainfall in Sajik Valley areas snapped human traffic as well as transportation of goods between the two villages.
In order to restore connectivity and as a part of military civic action, troops of 8 Assam Rifles under 26 Sector took the initiative to repair the structure with the local populace of Singheu and Chakpikhullen extending active support in the repair works, the release said adding that the restoration work was completed on april 19 .
A short tea party was organised to celebrate the joint effort of security force personnel and the villagers, it maintained.
Notably, Sajik Tampak was once a haven for many UG groups.
