Majority number of the staff in the Manipur Veterinary and Animal Husbandry department did not attend office today following a threat by suspected militants yesterday.
Reports said that some people suspected to be underground cadres warned the staff of the Veterinary and Animal Husbandry on Monday to leave the office before 2 pm of the day as some ' untoward incidents' would occur.
On learning of the matter, police commandos immediately rushed to the office and carried out search operations.
All people including the staff of the department were allowed to go home only after being frisked by the security forces personnel, said the report.
Following the development only a handful of the staff attended office today.
Many people who came with their pets for medical attention were disappointed as the office failed to function normally.
Till the filing of this story, no groups or individuals have claimed responsibility for the threat to the department.
