The second edition of the three-day Manipur International Documentary, Short and Animation Film Festival will be held at the complex of the Manipur Film Development Corporation from tomorrow till August 20 .
It is being organised by the Manipur Film Development Corporation in collaboration with the Film Division, Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
A total of 27 films including 14 selected from the Mumbai International Film Festival and six films produced by the Film Division, Manipur will be screened during the three day long festival, said the Managing Director of MFDC, Dr K Sorojini at a press conference held at the MFDC office at Palace Compound here today.
Seven Manipuri films will also be screened, she said.
The screening of film will start from 10 am and 7 pm everyday, and cinegoers can see the films free of cost, she announced.
The festival was first held in January 2006 with the objective of holding the same every two years.
But the MFDC could not organise the festival in 2008 after the MFDC office was gutted in a devastating fire in May, 2007, the Director said.
However, from this year onwards, the MFDC is targeting at holding the festival every
two years.
The objective of holding the festival is to encourage local film producers to produce good quality films, Sorojini said.
Director of Film Division, D Packirisamy, Assistant Administrative Officer, VS Nardekar, official in-charge of distribution, Anilkumar and Superintendent, HB Sonawane were also present at the press conference.
