A Two day Development Coordinating Team, DCT Women leadership training organised by the Don Bosco Social Welfare, DBSW Tamenglong was held at its office complex with Advocate Paikhomba and Aniliu Gangmei as resource persons today.
The aim of the training was to teach women to organise themselves better in their respective places and to contribute to creating the society of their choice, the Coordinator DBSW, Tamenglong George Hanglei mentioned in his key note address in the opening ceremony of the leadership training.
As many as 26 women from different remote villages attended the programme.
During the training the women would be taught how to make participate in situational and group analyses, how to make communication, how to draft letters, petitions and negotiations, he said.
In the meantime, nine girls who were rescued and brought back from Bangalore and Chennai who were supposed to return to Tamenglong for a reunion with their parents failed to turn up today.
The parents who longed to see their daughters today waited in vain as the vehicles the girls were travelling in broke down between Awangkhul and Irang village.
Further a welcome programme organised by Indigenous Women and Children Foundation and Zeme Pui Baudi which was to be held today at Zeme Naga Baptist Church complex Tamenglong was postponed till tomorrow.
K Panmei, IAS Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong who was also concerned about the trafficking of children, Dinganglung, MCS SDO Tousem, C Arthur W, IAS SDO Tamenglong are likely to attend the programme and speak on the occasion.
The parents who live in far and remote villages had come to the district HQs to receive their daughters.
The parents waited till late evening.
The team was expected to arrive late at night or tomorrow morning.
