Imphal, April 26 2010:
An official team of the National Investigating Agency (NIA), which has been set up under the Union Home Ministry after the Mumbai terror attack arrived at Imphal to trace the leader of a UG group based in Manipur.
According to an official source, the NIA team led by a Superintendent arrived here yesterday.
Conveying that the arrival of the NIA team is not related to the case of a bomb-fitted car driven inside the Raj Bhavan on September 18 last year, the source said that the purpose of the visit is not yet known and the case to be investigated has not been registered.
However, the investigation of the NIA team may be connected to a UG group and to collect evidences on its leader who had been arrested outside the State and found to have opened four bank accounts with forged documents, the source added.
The source, however, declined to disclose the name of the UG group.
