SMART Society has kick started its first phase of yarn distribution to weavers in a function held at SMART mini auditorium today.
Six hundred weavers from different Smart Farmers' Club would be benefited in the first phase under the scheme taken up in association with Micro Finance Division.
SMART Society President N Samarjit, its Chief Manager I Ramananda and Vice President Takhellambam Shyamkanhai were the chief guest and guest of honour and functional president respectively of today's function.
Speaking in the function, Samarjit said that the scheme has been conceived keeping in mind to provide essential material component to the weavers, who are workless due to lack of yarn.
Shyamkanhai called on the beneficiaries to work hard so that the sense of work culture may be inculcated in the minds of various artisans and craftsmen of the State.
He also exuded that the time has come to produce and sell products which show State's identity.
Weavers from Irengbam Makha Leikai, Irengbam Mayai Leikai and Chanam Sandrok were benefited in today's programme.
