Imphal, April 26 2010:
The JAC constituted against the killing of Lairenlakpam Amudon has called a State-wide 24-hour general strike with effect from the midnight of April 27 .
The youth was shot dead by unknown gunmen who came to meet Uyumpok Gram Panchayat Pradhan Lairenlakpam Ongbi Leirentombi Devi and her husband Basant on April 20 night.
The deceased was the younger brother of Basant.
The gunmen opened fire at Amudon alias Ibomcha when he tried to stop the gunmen from kidnapping the three-year-old daughter of his brother as they could not find his brother and sister-in-law in their house.

JAC members said that the general strike is being called as the State Government has failed to fulfil the demands of the JAC.
Apart from the general strike, the JAC members said that no outsider would be allowed to enter the localities of Uyumpok Gram Panchayat after 6 pm from April 29 .
Meanwhile, a mass protest rally was staged to mark the ashthi ceremony of Amudon today.
The rallyists carried banners and festoons denouncing the murder and demanded punishment of the killers.
The identities of the killers are not yet known.
