Even though the state taxation department can fix prices of goods, government is neglected in empowering the department, speakers taking part in the All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) organised "Campaigning for Survival" charged today.
AMADA has been conducting series of public meetings to aware the people on the hiking of the prices of the essential commodities and making the NH-53 as primary lifeline of the state.
The campaign was held at Lilong Bazar today.
Speaking at the meeting, advisor of Consumers' Club Manipur, N Naba expressing concern over the sky rocketing price of the essential commodities criticized the state government for remaining like silent spectator when the people are at the limit of their woes in affording daily needs.
State taxation department can fixed the prices of goods in the state but government is not initiating to discharge the duty of the department.
Government is saying of reviving the price fixation committee to look into the raising prices of goods but no action taken seen so far, he lamented.
Many other leaders of the civil societies talked in the meeting.
