The crime against fairer sex continues to persist in Nagaland inspite of the maximum efforts put up to thwart the crime by tribal organisations and the Church.
The latest incident has been that of a shocking case where an 80 year old man raped a 12 year old girl in the outskirt of Dimapur.
The incident happened on July 14 .
Two days before this incident, on July 10, an 18 year old boy raped a 13 year old girl, also in the outskirt of Dimapur.
The accused of both the incidents have been arrested by the police.
In the first case, an 80 year old man identified as one Ratuo Sokhrie of Vidima village under Chumukedima, Dimapur called the 12 year old girl to his house on the pretext of asking her to do for him some work on one afternoon and raped her.
The police arrested the old man and he is now in the police custody in Dimapur.
In the second incident, an auto-rickshaw driver identified as one Maizul Ali (18) lured the 13 year old girl of Thahekhu village, Dimapur to the railway tracks and committed the crime on
July 10 .
Maizul Ali has been arrested by the police.
It is worth noting that some months ago, some labourers had raped and killed a woman in Mokokchung district.
There have been numerous cases of crime against women in recent time in Nagaland.
Numerous protest rallies had been held in many parts of Nagaland against rape cases in recent time.
