Suspected undergrounds today lobbed a hand grenade at the house of a government officer at Kiyamgei Awang Leikai but it failed to explode, reports said.
Suspects hurled the grenade at the house of assistant agriculture officer Nameirakpam Surendro at around 7.45 am at Kyamgei under Singjamei police in Imphal west district.
A team of state police bomb disposal squad had defused the China make hand grenade later after family members immediately reported the matter to the police.
Today's bomb threat was the second time to the house of the officer within this month.
Recently on July 3 also a hand grenade was deposited at the gate of the house of the officer.
Police is investigating into the repeated threats to the officer whether it was connected with monetary demand from the officer by an underground outfit.
