Imphal, July 17 2010:
The Naga People's Organization (NPO) has expressed strong resentment and immediate rectification in reference to the Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls 2010 conducted by the Government of Manipur, Election Commission in respect of Tadubi, Mao and Karong Assembly Constituencies.
General Secretary, NPO, Simon Chawang stated in a press release today that the existing and original electoral rolls were deleted from the reviewed list without any concrete reasons known to the general public of the three constituencies.
It may be noted that II-Outer Manipur Parliamentary Election 2009 held last year was purely based on the original electoral roll, but the move to review such documents and improve with necessary corrections initiated miserably failed as thousands of original electoral rolls and names were deleted by the concerned authorities, Sub-Divisional Officers and staff without any public notice or intimation.
For which, the NPO will not accept any unjustifiable irregularities on the people's electoral rights without any intimations or reasons known to the general public.
Therefore, the NPO in the interest of the general public demands before the concerned authorities to immediately restore the original electoral rolls without delay, the press released added.
