Capping off a brilliant innings of 25 years, Mutua Museum, which has become some sort of a landmark in the State, is all set to add another feather in its cap by introducing a South East Asian (SEA) Study centre.
Announcing this during a simple but impressive function at the museum premises at Andro today, its Director, Mutua Bahadur said that the museum was in the first place set up with the objective of building a cultural bridge between Manipur and the South East Asian countries.
It is in line with this objective that the Museum is set to introduce a South East Asian Study Centre from this year, he said.
Stressing on the importance of preserving one's culture, Bahadur said that the museum is dedicated to task of preserving the culture of the Manipuris and said that the identities of Manipuris, particularly Meiteis who live in other countries such as Bangladesh, Myanmar and Thailand can be preserved only through culture.
The Mutua Museum is a small but significant step towards this target, he observed.
Bahadur further said that it is the duty of each individual to try their best to preserve the culture of one's society so that its heritage can be passed on to the coming generation.
Former YAS Minister M Hemanta who attended the function as chief guest said that the museum complex is one of the ideal places in Manipur to relax and unwind, besides soaking in the rich culture of different communities.
He also hailed the efforts of the museum in preserving and documenting the artifacts of past which is a part and parcel of the Manipuri society.
Located at Andro, Mutua Museum houses a number of age old artifacts of different communities of Manipur.
