State BJP Unit would be putting pressure on the Opposition DPA for accepting candidates proposed by it as consensus candidates of the Opposition alliance for contesting election in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
Informing this a party source said that a decision to this effect was arrived at during a meeting of the office bearers of the party at the official residence of State Unit party president and ex-MP Th Chaoba at Babupara today.
The meeting was convened to introduce new newly elected office bearers of the party and to discuss whether BJP should field its own candidates from both Inner and Outer Parliamentary seats or not, a party source said.
Although a definite decision was not taken in this regard, the meeting was unanimous on putting pressure on the Opposition DPA for giving its consent to candidates proposed by BJP as consensus candidates of the Opposition alliance, it added.
Recognizing the urgency for commencing preparation for the election, the meeting also resolved to entrust State unit president Th Chaoba, party's National Secretary M Bhorot and Legislature leader RK Dorendro for constituting required election committees, the source informed.
Meanwhile, another party source said that as per the decision taken by Central BJP leaders for sending at least one persons who had been a Minister in the NDA Government to each' State, Bijoya Chakravarty would arrive here sometime in last part of this month.
During her stay at Imphal, she would be taking stock of the election preparedness and accordingly submit a report to the Central leaders of the party.
BJP North East in-charge V Satish and National vice president Pyarelal Khandelwal are also likely to visit the State in the first week of next month.
