Imphal, February 18:
In a twist of turn reminiscent of some Bollywood flick, two teenaged lovers who apparently eloped and left home on January 28, last month have not returned home and nothing heard about them since then, putting their family and relatives in mental and physical agony.
Searches conducted by volunteers from various youth and social organizations and family members at suspected locations have also proved futile till today.
Sources said that the boy, David Paubiaksang (15), s/o L Ginkhokham of Bungmual and Miss Thangbiakhoih (17), d/o T Vungkhanlian of Pearsonmun localities in Churachandpur district have been in love for sometime.
Then, suddenly and inexplicably, the two left home around 5 pm of January 28 with their bare clothing and reportedly walked towards Mission Compound in the west of Lamka town and never returned since.
David Paubiaksang had recently got admission in Class IX at Hermon English School, Bungmual.
While there are rumors that respective parents do not approve of their affair, the family members denied any such attempts to separate them.
Mass searches for the two have been conducted on more than one occasion under the aegis of various philanthropic organizations around Churachandpur but till date no traces of them have been found.
Some people reportedly spotted them at Khotuh village, beyond Mission Compound on January 31 but no leads could be established from there.
The case was also reported to the Police on February 6 and the police have sent out information about them to all police stations in Manipur and their photos have been splashed in the local newspapers, but it yielded nothing.
Now, the parents fear for the worst as it is difficult to believe that they will be able to survive the winter for such a long time.
They have appealed on everyone who knows anything about the two to inform them.
If any organization or groups happen to give them shelter or abducted them, they are urged to hand them over to the family.
