At last, the process for the implementation of the controversial Tipaimukh multi-purpose project in Churachandpur and Tamenglong districts of Manipur has begun with the finalisation to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) among the government of Manipur, the National Hydro-Power Corporation (NHPC) Limited and the SJVN Limited.
The memorandum of understanding is to have a 'Joint Venture Company'.
A meeting in this connection was held on Wednesday in Imphal under the chairmanship of chief minister O.Ibobi Singh, according to an official source today.
The MoU will be signed by Manipur state Principal Secretary (Power), chairman and managing director of NHPC Ltd and chairman and managing director of SJVN Ltd.
The source said that the cost of the project as of in the year 2008 was estimated at Rs 8138 crores.
