Imphal, February 11, 2010:
In case the Government of Manipur does not implement the recommendations of the 6th Central Pay Commission in toto at the earliest possible, then employees in essential services would also join in the ongoing cease work strike, secretary administrative of Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees Organisation (AMGEO) W Inaocha has stated.
The JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO, an apex body of the employees in the State, has been spearheading the agitation of the State Government employees since January 16 in pursuance of the demand for implementation of the recommendations of the 6th Central Pay Commission in toto in Manipur.
Talking to The Sangai Express today, Inaocha said that the continued indifferent attitude of the State Government towards the rightful demand of the employees inspite of launching cease work strike since January 16 is condemnable.
So far, employees in essential services have not been included within the purview of the ongoing agitation.
However, if the Government fails to consider the demand of the employees at the earliest possible, then the ongoing agitation would be intensified along with inclusion of employees in essential services, he threatened.
It may be noted here that over and above the ongoing cease work strike, agitating employees have locked up their respective offices and staging sit-in-protest demonstration in front of their respective offices.
Even the visitors coming to offices are being prevented from entering.
Meanwhile, in support of the cease work strike being launched by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO, employees of the Forest Department headoffice at Sanjenthong today demonstrated in front of their office.
Participating in the protest demonstration, secretary of Forest Department Employees Union Kh Nilamani pointed out that if even cease work strike was on, earlier offices were not locked up and the employees used to sit inside.
But now everyone stay outside to demonstration.
This shows how aggrieved and serious the employees are over their demand.
He asserted that denial of the 6th Pay benefit to employees of the State including MCS, MPS ad MFS officers while the same benefit is being provided to IAS, IPS, IFS officers is unreasonable.
So the Government should implement the recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission in the State as well.
With exemption to the staff of casualty services, all the employees of the Veterinary Department have also reported joined the ongoing agitation.
