Former Education Minister Francis Ngajokpa has expressed strong reservation against giving any sort of obstruction to education and National Highways in the State.
Speaking as chief guest of the valedictory function to the 28th Maralui Karalimai Swijoikang Trophy tournament organised as part of the year-long golden jubilee celebration of Maralui Karalimai Swijoikang (Maram Students' Union) at N Raishung ground, Maram Bazar today, Francis Ngajokpa observed that it is though education that a society can progressed and bring about peace and discipline among the people.
So giving obstruction to such an important element of the society like education is an ominous sign of possible degradation in the society, Ngajokpa said, while appealing to all concerned not to give any sort of obstruction in the education system of the society.
He also pointed out that imposition of frequent bandh and blockade along the National Highways passing through the State and looting the passengers of their hard earned money and properties is not the right thing to do, specially in a landlocked State like Manipur which depends on the road transport.
Apart from causing law and order problem, such anti-social activists can tear apart the social fabric and create enmity among the various communities, he added.
Former president of Maralui Karalimai Swijoikang V Hing, incumbent president R Peter were also among other noted personalities of the Maram community who attended the formal valedictory function of the tournament which has been going on since January 7 .
In all 22 teams participated in the tournament.
The Sagongbam team lifted the trophy by defeating the Katomai team by 2-0 goals in the final match today.
