Imphal, January 15 2010:
The 62nd Army Day was observed today at the old airfield at Koirengei on National Highway 39.The General Officer Commanding, 57 Mtn Divn, Major General DS Hooda, VSM**, who was the chief guest at the function, told newspersons that Indian Army will extend help in bringing stability and normalcy back to the state of Manipur so that development will follow.
After the main programmes of the observance were over, talking to reporters for a short while, the GOC said that development is delayed in the state due to insurgency.

If stability and peace prevail, development will follow.
It will be the achievement of the Army to usher normalcy and peace in Manipur and let people live happily with development, he said.
The Major General further said that the Army has been working tirelessly to provide the people of Manipur security, and appealed to the people to extend cooperation to all activities of Army.
The main features of the observance of Army Day were exhibition of assorted arms and ammunitions, sophisticated military machinery, free health check up, demonstration of various programmes like performance of a military band, Khukri dance by jawans of Gorkha Rifles, dog shows, battle drill enacted by soldiers of infantry, etc.
Thousands of students of different schools from different parts of Imphal, NCC cadets and civilians watched the programmes.
