In his brief address, Gaikhangam affirmed that among all political organisations, only the Congress party cherishes as well as promotes principle of secularism, democratic set-up and religious tolerance.
For development and progress of Manipur, he called upon like-minded individuals for cooperation and unity while described growing stature of the Wangoi Block Congress as a positive indication that the Congress party organisation is gaining strength and mass public acceptance.
With apparent reference to the new inductees, the MPCC chief appealed for support in ensuring success of Congress candidate in Wangoi assembly constituency when assembly elections are held in 2012 .
Speaking at the occasion, MPCC treasurer Achouba conceded that failure of the Congress nominee in the previous assembly poll was due to minimal votes in four particular polling stations out of the total of 25 polling stations within Wangoi AC.
Appreciating joining of prominent individuals and important political activists to the Wangoi BCC, Achouba expressed confidence of succeeding in the next assembly election.
It is informed that many of those who joined Wangoi BCC were ardent supporters of former Chief Minister W Nipamacha.
